Pronouns in Bio
Feature length documentary
70 minutes

Through a collection of video diary entries spanning more than a year, Pronouns in Bio delivers an offbeat and charming reflection on transness and identity. Part documentary, part video essay and part musical, the film follows director and star Lucy Rose Shaftain-Fenner, a recently out transgender, autistic woman, as she navigates the first year of her transition.

‘Pronouns in Bio’ was awarded Official Selection at TRANSlations: Seattle Trans Film Festival, Official Selection at Out On Film: Atlanta's LGBTQ Film Festival and Official Selection at FilmPride: Brighton & Hove Pride LGBTQ+ Film Festival.

Awards and events

The film was shot and edited by Lucy throughout 2020 and 2021 and was then screened at various film festivals (see below for a full list of awards) and LGBT+ events in 2022, before being uploaded to Lucy’s YouTube channel where it can be watched for free. For festivals Lucy also put together a 20 minute cut, so that it could also be shown as a short film.
